The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is all set to roll out an additional 20 train journeys, effective starting today.
This move comes as a response to the pollution control authorities measures to encourage greater utilisation of public transportation in Delhi and its neighbouring cities.
DMRC, in a statement, announced, “In light of the implementation of GRAP-III stage to combat pollution in Delhi, the DMRC will be introducing an additional 20 trips across its network starting from tomorrow, November 3, 2023 (Friday).”
Delhi Metro had already increased its train services by 40 trips on weekdays since October 25, following the implementation of the GRAP-II stage.
With this latest development, DMRC will now be operating a total of 60 additional trips as part of its efforts to promote public transportation in Delhi-NCR, in line with the pollution control panel’s directives.
These directives include the suspension of non-essential construction work in Delhi-NCR and restrictions on the entry of diesel-guzzling trucks into the capital, in response to the deteriorating air quality, which has entered the ‘severe’ category. (With inputs from PTI)
