Air quality satisfactory in Delhi

The national capital woke up to a relatively cool morning and ‘satisfactory’ air quality on Friday, with the minimum temperature settling below normal at several weather stations across the city.

Safdarjung, Delhi’s base station, recorded a minimum temperature of 22.6 degrees Celsius, 2.5 notches below normal. Palam logged 20.7 degrees Celsius, nearly five notches below normal, while the Ridge station recorded 20 degrees Celsius, 5.5 degrees below normal.

Lodhi Road and Ayanagar stations recorded minimum temperatures of 21.4 degrees Celsius each, with departures of 1.6 degrees and 2.5 degrees below normal respectively, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

No rainfall was recorded in the 24 hours ending 8:30 am on Friday at the major weather stations in Delhi, according to the IMD.

Delhi’s air quality was recorded in the ‘satisfactory’ category in the morning with average air quality index (AQI) being clocked at 98 till 9 AM, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

According to the CPCB, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.

The maximum temperature is likely to settle around 34 degrees Celsius.
