Repair work on the Chirag Delhi flyover has been delayed by a few days due to recent rains in the city, according to an official statement released on Saturday.
Public Works Department (PWD) Minister, Atishi, has directed officials to ensure that the flyover is open for traffic by April 1.
During her second visit to the flyover within a week, Atishi observed that maintenance work was running two days behind schedule due to unexpected rainfall in the past few days. She instructed officials to expedite the maintenance work on the first part of the flyover and keep one lane open for traffic during the repair work.
“Our priority is to get the people of Delhi traffic-free. PWD is working on a war footing in this direction and will complete the maintenance work of the Chirag Delhi flyover soon so that people can get relief from traffic,” said Atishi. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is closely monitoring the maintenance work of the flyover, she added.
During a joint inspection with PWD and Delhi Police officials, Atishi instructed officials to develop an action plan for better traffic management during the maintenance of both phases of work. Maintenance work is ongoing on the Chirag Delhi flyover, and a portion of it has been closed to traffic, leading to an increase in traffic congestion.
According to PWD officials, the maintenance work was originally scheduled to be completed within 50 days. ( With inputs from PTI)
