
The Centre for Cultural Resources & Training (CCRT) kicked off its four-day cultural festival named VIRASAT on Friday, showcasing a vibrant array of cultural performances and exhibitions.
According to Rishi Vashist, Director of CCRT, the festival is a tribute to the founder Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay, who was an inspiration to many, and CCRT carries forward her legacy through this festival.
He said that Indian culture has the potential to benefit the global citizen today, and the world can imbibe our deep and meaningful time-tested practices, ancient wisdom, music, dance, wellness practices, or the spiritual side of culture.
The cultural festival will showcase six plays staged over four days. On day one ‘Pahatiya’ directed by Dr Yogendra Choubey of Natya Vibhag Rangmandal, Indira Kala Sangit Vishwavidyalaya was staged.
On day two, ‘Ek Inspector Se Mulaqat’ conceptualized and directed by Sharad Sharma of Abhinav Rangmandal, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, was staged.
Day four will showcase two small plays by Nagpur-based theatre group – ‘Chidiya, Chhilke aur Sahgal’ and ‘Bhatki Gazal’ – both directed by Vinod Narayan Indurkar, National Art & Craft Creator Nagpur, Maharashtra.
Union Minister of State for Culture & External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi is the Chief Guest of the “Siddhi Samaroh” (Valedictory) on Monday, March 27, 2023, from 11 am to 01.00 pm at CCRT’s Bharatmuni Natyagriha. She will be inaugurating an exhibition of 30 paintings of woman freedom fighters and unveiling the statue of Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay in CCRT Campus.
