A man and a woman from Maharashtra were found dead in a rented room in southeast Delhi’s East of Kailash area on Monday, police said.
They found a suicide note whose contents were not revealed.
The matter was reported at Amar Colony Police Station at 9.08 am.
A police team reached the rented accommodation in Sant Nagar, East of Kailash, where the room had already been forced open by one of the woman’s friends or neighbours after repeated attempts to contact the occupants failed.
“Inside the room, the 26-year-old woman, a resident of Nagpur in Maharashtra, was found lying dead on the bed, while the man, identified as 30-year-old Anmol Kunda Patil, also from Maharashtra, was found hanging from the ceiling fan with a nylon rope,” a police officer said.
A handwritten note, prima facie believed to have been written by the man, was seized for examination, the officer said. Both bodies were sent to the AIIMS mortuary for post-mortem.
“The exact cause behind the suspected suicide would be ascertained after the post-mortem report and forensic examination of the recovered material,” the officer said.
