The Delhi Development Authority on Tuesday launched an AI-driven single-window building approval system aimed at curbing corruption complaints and public harassment linked to the earlier process, officials said.

Launched under the Online Building Permit System (OBPS), the new system will allow citizens, homeowners, architects and developers to submit building plans, documents and multiple no-objection certificates (NOCs) through a single integrated online platform.

According to an official statement issued by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), the initiative follows directions from Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Taranjit Singh Sandhu to improve ease of living and ease of doing business in the capital city.

The earlier process often resulted in procedural delays, unnecessary physical visits, complaints of corruption and harassment, issues that the L-G flagged while directing the DDA to operationalise the new system at the earliest, the statement said.

Officials said the platform includes AI-driven plan assessment, automated compliance checks, geo-tagged mobile inspections and instant SMS and email notifications to improve efficiency, transparency and accountability.

Applicants will also be able to track their applications in real time, pay fees online and receive digitally signed approvals without having to visit DDA offices repeatedly, the statement said.

The initiative is part of broader technology-driven governance reforms aimed at modernising Delhi’s urban planning and development framework, it said.

The LG Secretariat and senior DDA officials will periodically review the functioning and effectiveness of the new system, the officials said.
