Six people were rescued after a fire broke out in a multi-storey residential building in Mukherjee Nagar in northwest Delhi, the Delhi Fire Services said on Monday.
The fire broke out on Sunday night behind the Batra Cinema in Rana Nagar, a Delhi Fire Services (DFS) official said.
According to fire officials, domestic articles and documents first caught fire, which soon spread across multiple floors of the building with a stilt parking and three floors above it.
A call regarding the fire was received at 9.43 pm, following which multiple fire tenders were rushed to the spot, the official said.
“The firemen evacuated six people from the third floor of the building. One of them, Pawan Kumar (32), has been admitted to the Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital with 25-30 per cent burns.
“The others were identified as Nitu Singh (50), Harshit (17), Ranu Devi (85), Meena Shukla (65) and Rohit Shukla. All are safe now,” the official said.
The firefighting operation concluded early Monday.
