Delhi BJP to undergo organisational restructuring

A month after winning the Assembly polls in Delhi, the city unit of the BJP is set to undergo organisational restructuring, party leaders said on Sunday.

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, who led the party in the polls, said the organisational restructuring process, being observed as ‘Sangathan Parv’, will be held this week.

The national leadership of the party has appointed senior leader Mahendra Nagpal as the election officer for Delhi, along with two co-election officers — Yogesh Atrey and Vijay Solanki — to supervise the process.

Sachdeva stated that the BJP operates through collective leadership ensuring internal democracy by providing every worker opportunity to be part of the organisational structure.

The organisational elections will be held at booth, Mandal, district and state level committees.

Man killed with broken liquor bottle in road rage in Delhi

A road rage incident in east Delhi turned fatal when a man allegedly struck another on the head with a liquor bottle and used the broken glass to slit his throat following a heated argument, officials said on Saturday. The incident took place on Friday near NH-24 in Kalyan Puri after a collision between two motorcycles. The altercation escalated, leading to the brutal attack. Police have arrested two suspects—Pankaj Kumar Sinha (30) and Jeetu (27). The victim, identified as 24-year-old tea-seller Ashish, was returning home after Holi celebrations with friends when he was attacked.

Delhi to continue past excise policy in financial year 2025-26

The Delhi government is expected to extend its existing excise policy for the financial year 2025-26, as a revised version is yet to be formulated, officials have indicated. With the reins of Delhi now in the hands of the BJP—following its decisive victory over the previously dominant Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in last month’s Assembly elections—the excise portfolio is now overseen by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. “The new government has yet to make a decision on drafting a fresh excise policy. Given this, the current policy, which was already extended for 2024-25, is likely to remain in place for another year,” a senior Delhi government official stated.
