Delhi Election Results: As the counting of votes for the Delhi Assembly elections progresses, early trends show the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leading in 41 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is ahead in 29 seats, according to the latest Election Commission data. The contest remains intense, with key leaders locked in tough battles across multiple constituencies.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, contesting from Kalkaji, is trailing behind BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri by 1,149 votes after the first round of counting. AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, contesting from the New Delhi seat, is leading by 386 votes after three rounds. However, Manish Sisodia, the former Deputy Chief Minister, is struggling in Jangpura, where he is trailing by 1,314 votes, marking a major setback for the party.

BJP is showing strong performances across various constituencies, gaining early leads in multiple seats. In Rithala, Kulwant Rana is ahead by 14,677 votes, while in Shalimar Bagh, Rekha Gupta maintains a lead of 14,831 votes. In Vishwas Nagar, Om Prakash Sharma is leading by 12,838 votes, and in Mustafabad, Mohan Singh Bisht has secured a massive lead of 24,960 votes. In Karawal Nagar, Kapil Mishra is ahead by 15,504 votes, further strengthening the BJP’s position.

Despite BJP’s strong showing, AAP is holding onto key seats. In Burari, Sanjeev Jha is leading by 8,932 votes, while in Timarpur, Surinder Pal Singh (Bittoo) has a margin of 2,153 votes. In Okhla, Amanatullah Khan is ahead by 4,753 votes, and in Seemapuri, Ku. Rinku maintains a lead of 1,826 votes. Imran Hussain is also leading in Ballimaran by 1,647 votes.

All security arrangements have been put in place. Polling for the 70-member assembly was held on February 5, with a total voter turnout recorded at 60.54 per cent.

The AAP is aiming for a third consecutive term, while the BJP is making all efforts to return to power after more than two decades in the National Capital. Most exit polls released on Wednesday gave the BJP an edge over AAP. However, AAP leaders said that exit polls have historically underestimated the party’s performance. They expressed confidence in returning to power.

The BJP’s campaign, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, targeted the AAP over alleged toxicity in the Yamuna River and the renovation of Arvind Kejriwal’s residence as Chief Minister. The PM also used the terms “Aapda” and “Sheesh Mahal” to slam Kejriwal. Meanwhile, the AAP highlighted its “performance” in the education sector during its eleven-year tenure. Kejriwal claimed that the BJP would “stop free education” if it came to power.

Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, also held rallies and targeted Kejriwal and senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia for their alleged role in the Delhi excise policy “scam” case.

Key constituencies include New Delhi, where AAP leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is contesting against Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit and BJP’s Parvesh Verma.
