Delhi Elections: All central government offices and industrial establishments in Delhi will be closed on February 5 for the assembly election, according to an order issued by the Personnel Ministry on Friday.
Employees who are residents of a constituency, registered as voters, but employed in a central government organisation or industrial establishment outside their constituency, will be eligible for special casual leave, the order stated, referencing existing directives.
The general election for the Delhi Legislative Assembly and bye-elections for two Assembly constituencies—Erode (East) in Tamil Nadu and Milkipur in Uttar Pradesh—are scheduled for February 5.
“The central government offices, including industrial establishments, shall remain closed on polling day in the notified areas where general elections to the state legislative Assembly are being conducted,” stated the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) while outlining the guidelines.
For the bye-elections, only employees who are bona fide voters in the respective constituency should be granted special casual leave on polling day, the DoPT noted.

The order, addressed to secretaries of all central government departments and the chief secretaries of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, also specified that special casual leave may be granted to employees who are residents of the constituency and registered voters but are employed in central government organisations or industrial establishments located outside the constituency.
