General election to the legislative Assembly of national capital territory of Delhi are scheduled to be held on February 5

Delhi Elections: All central government offices and industrial establishments in Delhi will be closed on February 5 for the assembly election, according to an order issued by the Personnel Ministry on Friday.

Employees who are residents of a constituency, registered as voters, but employed in a central government organisation or industrial establishment outside their constituency, will be eligible for special casual leave, the order stated, referencing existing directives.

The general election for the Delhi Legislative Assembly and bye-elections for two Assembly constituencies—Erode (East) in Tamil Nadu and Milkipur in Uttar Pradesh—are scheduled for February 5.

“The central government offices, including industrial establishments, shall remain closed on polling day in the notified areas where general elections to the state legislative Assembly are being conducted,” stated the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) while outlining the guidelines.

For the bye-elections, only employees who are bona fide voters in the respective constituency should be granted special casual leave on polling day, the DoPT noted.
