The Delhi Police announced on Tuesday that the entirety of the city would remain accessible during the upcoming G20 Summit, with the exception of a specific portion within the NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Council) area.
Through various posts on the microblogging platform X, the police reassured the public that essential services such as milk booths and hospitals would continue to operate without disruption in the New Delhi region.
“Delhi is fully open. Only a limited section of the NDMC area will have restrictions… We want to emphasize once again that these restrictions apply solely to a small part of the NDMC area. Please disregard any rumors,” stated the Delhi Police.
The G20 Leaders’ Summit, scheduled for September 9-10, will be held at the newly constructed international convention and exhibition center, Bharat Mandapam, located at Pragati Maidan.
In another social media post, the police clarified that while commercial activities would be temporarily suspended from September 8 to 10, essential services such as milk booths, pharmacies, hospitals, and other vital services would continue to operate in the New Delhi area.
The Delhi Police had previously announced the suspension of all online delivery services, excluding medicines, in the New Delhi district during the G20 Summit, as disclosed on Monday.
Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) SS Yadav stated, “Essential services like postal and medical services, as well as sample collections by pathology labs, will be permitted throughout Delhi. Commercial activities will not be allowed in the New Delhi area, and online delivery services, with the exception of medicine deliveries, will be suspended.”
Yadav added that all valid permissions for essential services would be respected during this period.
