Delhi govt to hold street plays across 1,250 locations on ‘Seva’ theme

Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra on Tuesday said the Art and Culture Department, through the Sahitya Kala Parishad, will launch a campaign featuring street plays on the theme of “Seva Ki Ankahee Kahaniyan” across the city.

Under the campaign, which will begin on Tuesday, around 1,250 street plays will be staged across Delhi, with a plan to hold four performances in every mandal, he said.

Addressing a press conference, Mishra said the plays will focus on service, cleanliness and initiatives aimed at taking India forward on the path of development.

“A series of street plays have been prepared around these themes to create awareness and encourage people to participate in service-related activities. At some locations, stage performances will also be organised as part of the campaign,” he said.

The campaign will begin on Tuesday with around 176 street plays being staged at different locations across Delhi. The performances will be held in mandals, settlements and colonies, as well as at prominent malls, marketplaces and other such public places, Mishra said.

Mishra said the street plays have been prepared with a focus on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s life and his emphasis on service. The performances will seek to highlight how people can incorporate acts of service into their lives for Delhi and the nation.

Around 30-35 street-play teams will simultaneously begin performances across the city under the campaign, the minister said.

The initiative aims to use street plays to create public awareness about service-related activities and encourage citizens to associate themselves with such efforts, Mishra added.
