Delhi govt to honour Anganwadi workers across 70 constituencies from Sep 23

The Delhi government will organise special programmes across all 70 assembly constituencies from Wednesday to honour Anganwadi workers, with around 25,000 invitations being sent out as part of its ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Monday.

The programmes will see participation from Anganwadi workers and helpers, beneficiaries, children, pregnant and lactating women, parents, creche workers, public representatives and community members, with around 500 people proposed to attend each constituency-level event.

A special felicitation kit worth Rs 2,500 has also been prepared for Anganwadi workers. The kit includes a bag, uniform, insulated water bottle, cap, first-aid pouch and umbrella, Gupta said.

The chief guest at each programme will present the kits to frontline workers associated with Anganwadi services, according to a statement.

The programmes have also been linked with the ninth National Nutrition Month 2026, being observed from September 17 to October 17 under the Centre-sponsored Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan scheme, it stated.

This year’s theme is ‘Hamari Anganwadi, Hamari Zimmedari’. The campaign seeks to raise awareness about nutrition, strengthen community participation and encourage people to take responsibility for Anganwadi services, it said.

Gupta said Anganwadi workers play a crucial grassroots role in taking government services to children, women and families and that recognising their contribution was the government’s responsibility.

She said recognising their contribution, acknowledging their work and considering the possibility of increasing their honorarium were part of the government’s commitment to supporting frontline workers who help take government schemes and services to people.

The ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ was launched on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birth anniversary.
