Mallikarjun Kharge
Delhi Polls: As the national capital heads to the polls, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday called upon voters to prioritize real development over hollow promises while casting their ballots.
In a social media post on X, Kharge emphasised the need to elect leaders who have genuinely contributed to Delhi’s progress rather than those who merely “pretend to fight for the people” while staying in power.
“I urge the people of Delhi to use their vote wisely. This is your chance to bring real change. If Delhi is to move forward on the path of true development, then choose those who have worked for progress, not those who misled you with empty words,” Kharge said in Hindi.
Highlighting key civic concerns, the Congress leader took a swipe at the ruling dispensation, alleging that issues like poor road conditions, water supply problems, garbage management, and air pollution have remained unaddressed.
“Before pressing the button on the EVM, ask yourself: have they truly worked for you? Those who have failed to resolve basic issues but continue making excuses do not deserve your support,” he asserted.
Kharge also made a special appeal to young and first-time voters, urging them to participate actively in the democratic process. “Delhi’s harmony, prosperity, and inclusive development should be the priority,” he said.
