Delhiites experienced a much-needed relief from the scorching heat as parts of the national capital received rainfall on Friday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted light rain and thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds for the day in Delhi.

Skymet Weather, a private forecasting agency, had also mentioned earlier in the week that Delhi, along with Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and west Uttar Pradesh, could expect light rains on Thursday and Friday due to the influence of Cyclone Biparjoy.

After its journey across the Arabian Sea for over 10 days, Cyclone Biparjoy finally made landfall near Jakhau Port in Gujarat on Thursday.

As for Delhi, the IMD reported a minimum temperature of 27.9 degrees Celsius on Friday, with the maximum temperature expected to reach around 38 degrees Celsius.

Additionally, the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded as ‘moderate’ with a value of 114 at 9 am, according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR).

The AQI scale categorizes air quality levels as follows: ‘good’ (0-50), ‘satisfactory’ (51-100), ‘moderate’ (101-200), ‘poor’ (201-300), ‘very poor’ (301-400), and ‘severe’ (401-500). (With inputs from PTI)
