Delhi experienced a minimum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius, which was slightly higher than the usual seasonal average, India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday.
The maximum temperature for the day is anticipated to remain around 38 degrees Celsius. The IMD’s bulletin indicates that the day will predominantly feature clear skies.
According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) for the city stood at 88 at 9 am.
In the AQI scale, an index between zero and 50 is categorized as “good” while 51 to 100 is labeled “satisfactory”.
The range of 101 to 200 is considered “moderate” 201 to 300 falls under “poor” 301 to 400 is classified as “very poor,” and 401 to 500 is labeled “severe”.
The relative humidity at 8.30 am was recorded at 72 percent, as per the IMD bulletin.
In preparation for the upcoming G20 Summit, the India Meteorological Department has installed an additional automatic weather station near Pragati Maidan, where the summit will take place. This station will provide specialised and real-time weather forecasts for the high-level event.
The IMD’s continuous weather monitoring for the summit will commence on Thursday morning. Weather updates and forecasts will be issued through a dedicated webpage on the IMD website at mausam.imd.gov.in/g20. The webpage will provide real-time data from the newly deployed automatic weather station (AWS) near the G20 Summit venue, including precise information on air temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction, and rainfall. The data will be updated at 15-minute intervals to ensure users have the most accurate and up-to-date weather information.
Similar weather information will be available for nine other key locations across Delhi, including the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi railway station, Chandni Chowk, Akshardham Temple, Bahai/Lotus Temple, Qutab Minar, Red Fort/Rajghat, Delhi University, and Lodhi Road (Lodhi Garden).
The G20 Leaders’ Summit is scheduled for September 9-10 and is expected to be attended by more than 30 heads of state, top officials from the European Union, invited guest countries, and 14 heads of international organisations. (With inputs from PTI)
