Delhi Records Warmest February Night in 75 Years

Delhi experienced its warmest February night in at least 75 years, with minimum temperatures reaching levels usually seen in early April. On Thursday, Safdarjung recorded a minimum temperature of 19.5°C—seven degrees above the seasonal average.

IMD data from 1951 to 2025 confirms this as the highest minimum temperature recorded in February, as records before 1951 are unavailable. This year’s February minimum temperatures are on track to be the highest in eight years. Previously, the warmest February night was 19°C on February 25, 2015, followed by 18.6°C on February 24, 1973. In comparison, the minimum temperature on Wednesday was 15.4°C.

Several parts of Delhi, including Safdarjung, experienced light showers. Weather experts attribute the unusually high nighttime temperatures to warm easterly winds and persistent cloud cover.
