The Delhi government has announced six designated dry days in the capital from October to December.

In a notification released on Friday, the excise department outlined that 637 liquor stores managed by four government agencies will be shut on specific dates: October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti), October 24 (Dussehra), October 28 (Valmiki Jayanti), November 12 (Deepavali), October 27 (Guru Nanak Jayanti), and December 25 (Christmas).

The Delhi excise commissioner holds the authority to declare dry days on occasions such as religious festivals and significant anniversaries of national figures.

On October 2, which marks Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, all establishments serving liquor, including bars and clubs, will also remain closed. It’s worth noting that excise licensees do not receive compensation for dry days, as per officials.
