IMD predicts moderate rain in Delhi

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted moderate rainfall with thunderstorm in the city for next 3-4 days. Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius on Saturday.
The IMD has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for rainfall in the national capital, where the Yamuna river has overflowed its banks due to heavy rains in the upper catchment areas. A ‘yellow’ alert signifies unfavorable weather conditions that could worsen and disrupt daily activities.

The continuous rainfall may result in further elevation of the Yamuna river’s water levels, which have already surpassed the danger mark of 205.33 meters for several days. As of 7 am on Saturday, the Central Water Commission reported that the water level had receded to 207.62 meters from its peak of 208.66 meters on Thursday at 8 pm.

At 8:30 pm, the relative humidity in Delhi stood at 85 percent. The IMD forecasts that the maximum temperature in the city will reach approximately 33 degrees Celsius.

According to the data from the Central Pollution Control Board, the Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi recorded a reading of 94 at 9 am, categorizing it as ‘satisfactory.’ The AQI scale ranges from zero to 500, with values between zero and 50 considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.
