The Delhi government has directed its departments to create comprehensive and time-bound strategies for the implementation of the 63 action items outlined in the G20 declaration, according to officials on Sunday.

Earlier this month, the Planning Department, under the approval of Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, instructed various departments to formulate their respective action plans and submit them by the end of September.

The G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration’s vision must be translated into tangible actions on the ground, necessitating immediate follow-up steps to transform the 63 action points into concrete action plans, as stated in the order.

The Planning Department’s special secretary issued an order stating, “You are, therefore, requested to formulate a detailed, time-bound action plan to implement the action points of the G20 declaration pertaining to concerned departments.”

The order further added, “A detailed action plan containing major milestones and timelines must be sent to the undersigned no later than September 30.”

The G20 Summit took place in New Delhi on September 9-10, resulting in unanimous adoption of the G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration. This declaration addressed critical issues such as employment and livelihood, poverty alleviation, climate change, global skill development, economic growth, investment, gender equality, child labor, anti-corruption measures, and food security, among others.

Various departments, including transportation and environment, along with agencies like the Delhi Transport Corporation and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, will focus on action points related to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprint.

The industries and health departments will collaborate on initiatives to improve access to medical resources and bolster production capacities in developing nations to better respond to future health crises.

The IT department will concentrate on enhancing access to digital services and digital public infrastructure while capitalizing on digital transformation to promote sustainable and inclusive growth.

Departments related to employment, education, and labor will collaborate on initiatives to promote sustainable, quality, safe, and gainful employment opportunities.

The Women and Child Development Department will take on the task of closing gender gaps and fostering the active participation of women in the economy as decision-makers.

The Industries Department will focus on streamlining business operations, reducing costs, and enhancing access to information for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to integrate them into international trade.

The social welfare and labor departments, in collaboration with the industries department, will work towards providing adequate social protection and decent working conditions for gig and platform workers.

Efforts to eradicate child and forced labor from global value chains will be a joint endeavor of the Women and Child Development and Labor Departments.

The Vigilance Directorate and the Anti-Corruption Branch will take responsibility for strengthening international cooperation in law enforcement and information sharing and enhancing the asset recovery mechanism to combat corruption.

Finally, the Delhi Police will contribute to global efforts to seize, confiscate, and return criminal proceeds to victims and states, aligning with international obligations and domestic legal frameworks, as specified in the order.
