An investigation into the medical condition of Satyendar Jain, one of the jailed leaderd of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former minister in Delhi, has been launched. The development came after he was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a government-run hospital in the city.

On Thursday, Jain had collapsed at Tihar Jail due to dizziness, leading Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to criticize the central government for his worsening health.

Initially, Jain was admitted to Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital but was later transferred to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital due to respiratory difficulties.

AAP sources informed news agency PTI that Jain is currently in critical condition and has been placed in the ICU at LNJP Hospital. Hospital authorities are closely monitoring his condition.

This marks the second instance in a week where the former minister has required hospitalization. Jain has been incarcerated in Tihar Jail since his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in May of the previous year, in relation to a money laundering case.

LNJP Hospital, the largest hospital under the Delhi government, received Jain in the emergency department where he was examined by doctors. A senior doctor at the hospital mentioned that Jain has had previous spinal issues and had previously sought treatment for them at LNJP Hospital.

According to AAP, Jain collapsed in a bathroom at Tihar Jail due to dizziness. It was noted that he had suffered a significant spinal injury in a previous bathroom incident.
