
Prajjawal Aggarwal, a resident of Nehru Nagar, witnessed the various dance and music from the Northeastern region of India for the first time at Central Park, Connaught Place, and loved. “I came here for a visit and heard the music while sitting in Block A. My friends asked me to come along with them and I must say, I love being here!” he says.
On Friday and Saturday, the park echoed with tunes of north eastern folk songs at The North-East Cultural Festival, organized with Delhi Tourism Department.
The event showcased the region’s diverse traditions, arts, and music, attracting a diverse audience eager to immerse themselves in the unique flavors of north eastern India. The footfall was around 5,000.
It opened with a colorful procession, featuring traditional dances and music from the seven sister states. Attendees were captivated by the vibrant display of indigenous art forms, fostering a deeper appreciation for the cultural wealth of the region.
Riya Sharma, a visitor who often goes to Guwahati, Assam, for work, said, “This festival is a fantastic opportunity to experience the beauty and diversity of the north east. Every element reflects the rich cultural heritage of the region.”
The musical extravaganza resonated with a harmonious blend of traditional and contemporary tunes. Dance performances showcased the graceful movements and vibrant costumes.
Renowned artists from Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, among others, took the stage, presenting a mesmerizing fusion of folk, classical, and modern melodies. Aggarwal, still marveling at the experience, expressed, “The music and dance here have a unique charm; it’s like a cultural journey in every beat and step.”
