Odisha Parba, a festival showcasing the culture and traditions of Odisha, was held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium from March 24 to March 26 after a three-year hiatus.

The festival, much loved for its traditional and folk performances, featured back-to-back performances by artists who rested in-between. Photos and selfies with the artists added to the excitement of the event.

Organized by Odia Samaj, a non-profit socio-cultural institution, the theme of this year’s festival was “Ananya Odisha”, highlighting the courage and poise of Odias that have helped Odisha become a powerful community in India.

The event saw the participation of some of the most well-known figures in national academic and intellectual circles in the Conclave on the topics of Odia Asmita (Odisha Identity), Odia Swabhiman (Odisha Self-respect), and Odia Swabalamban (Self-reliant Odisha). The discussions were held to create awareness about the rich cultural heritage and history of Odisha, along with its achievements and challenges.

The festival was open to all and was free of cost, which attracted people from all over Delhi to come and enjoy the food, performances, and handloom products. Over 15 stalls were set up to showcase the handicrafts and handlooms of Odisha. The handicrafts included silver filigree from Cuttack, artistic Pattachitra paintings, jute products, wood crafts, brass items, and appliqué works. The exquisite handicrafts produced in the various districts of the state left the ardent shoppers drawn to the products.

The handloom products on display included elegant Odissi sarees, lungi and gamchha, and gorgeous silver jewelry. Ethnic Odissi fabrics and readymade garments were also the highlights of the event.

The festival was a celebration of Odisha’s vibrant culture, showcasing its rich history, art, music, and dance forms. It was an opportunity for people to learn more about Odisha and its culture, and appreciate its contribution to the country’s cultural heritage. The event was a huge success, and organizers hope to continue the tradition in the future.
