Delhi: Customs officers at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport here arrested a passenger who arrived from Bangkok after allegedly recovering over six kg of hydroponic weed concealed in his baggage on Wednesday, officials said.
Hydroponic weed is cannabis cultivated without soil, using a nutrient-rich water solution instead.
The passenger was intercepted at the Green Channel based on APIS (advance passenger information system) profiling, an official statement said.
It said an X-ray examination of the passenger’s baggage revealed suspicious images, after which a physical examination was carried out.
The search resulted in the alleged recovery of six vacuum-sealed packets containing a green-coloured substance suspected to be hydroponic weed (ganja), weighing 6,365 grams, including the packing material, the statement said.
