Rain in parts of Delhi; air quality satisfactory

Rain lashed parts of the Delhi on Wednesday, bringing down the minimum temperature to 25.8 degrees Celsius, 1.5 notches below the season’s normal.

Central Delhi, Safdarjung and Sangam Vihar were some of the areas which recorded rain, while waterlogging was witnessed in some areas.

The Safdarjung observatory, Delhi’s primary weather station, recorded 12 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours.

Among other weather stations, Palam recorded a minimum temperature of 23.5 degrees Celsius, 3.4 notches below normal, Lodhi Road 25.4 degrees Celsius, 0.6 notch below normal, Ridge 23.7 degrees Celsius, 2.6 notches below normal, and Ayanagar 25.4 degrees Celsius, 1 notch below normal.

Relative humidity was recorded at 90 per cent in the morning hours.

The IMD has forecast a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain during the day. The maximum temperature is likely to settle around 32 degrees Celsius.

Besides Safdarjung’s 12.0 mm rainfall, Palam recorded 18.7 mm, Lodhi Road 9.8 mm, Ayanagar 20.1 mm, while the Ridge observatory recorded trace rainfall during the 24-hour period.

Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 65 in the ‘satisfactory’ category at 9 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.

According to the CPCB’s AQI scale, a reading between 0 and 50 is considered “good”, 51-100 “satisfactory”, 101-200 “moderate”, 201-300 “poor”, 301-400 “very poor” and 401-500 “severe”.
