
Heavy traffic was observed in central Delhi on Thursday due to the full dress rehearsal for the Republic Day parade, causing significant inconvenience to commuters.
The most affected areas included India Gate and ITO.
A commuter reported heavy traffic on Ring Road near the ITO loop and IP Extension. “I was heading to ITO when I encountered heavy congestion on Ring Road. Vikas Marg was also severely crowded, forcing us to take a U-turn near the IP Extension metro station,” he shared.
Vehicles were also seen crawling near the Shivaji Stadium metro station, close to Connaught Place in central Delhi.

Sneha Rai, a Noida resident, noted heavy traffic at the Delhi-Noida border due to security checks. “In addition to the border, traffic was heavy at Ashram Chowk and on Ring Road. Roads near the C-Hexagon at India Gate were closed, leading to diversions and long vehicle queues,” she explained.
The Delhi Police had issued a traffic advisory on Wednesday, informing the public about restrictions and diversions around India Gate.
