Six Yards and 365 Days, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting handloom sarees as ethical and ecological clothing, is organising an event to celebrate Indian culture and the love of handloom sarees. Around 150 women will gather in New Delhi, dressed in elegant and morally-responsible handloom sarees from various parts of India.

The event will feature a number of activities, such as a ramp walk and a saree quiz. Dastangoi, a panel discussion, will also take place, with Weaverstory members Shaili Chopra, Reeti Sahai, Meeta Gutgutia, Vandana Bhandari, and Nishant Malhotra. The gathering will also feature the rediscovery of Urdu storytelling and wine.

More than 30,000 women from India and around the world have joined the online platform of Six Yards and 365 Days, in an effort to encourage the value and preservation of handlooms. The organization has been working to support weavers and underprivileged families in the handloom weaving industry’s value chain.

Shali Chopra, who discussed the significance of the event with Patriot, emphasized the festival’s celebration of Indian history and love for handloom sarees.

She also stressed the importance of supporting the industry’s marginalised families and weavers and promoting ethical and ecological fashion while raising awareness of India’s a rich handloom saree history.

The event will take place on May 6, 2023, at Seminar Hall, 1st Floor Indian International Centre, 40 Max Muller Marg, Lodhi Gardens, New Delhi, from 11:30 am to 4:00 pm. Six Yards and 365 Days pledges to take all necessary actions to support the nation’s weavers and promote Indian clothing on a global scale while honoring the love of handwoven sarees and the women who consistently support the cause.

When: 11:30 am to 4:00 pm; May 6

Where: Seminar Hall, 1st Floor Indian International Centre, 40 Max Muller Marg, Lodhi Gardens, New Delhi
