The Delhi High Court has ordered a man to contribute two computers and printers for two Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) schools within a few weeks and dismissed an FIR against him that was filed after he was accused of assaulting his domestic assistance.
The man and the complainant had come to a settlement without any coercion and force, the court noted. However, the court asked the man to do some good work for the society as many government bodies such as court and police were unnecessarily overburdened because of the case.
The information regarding the two schools where the desktops and the printer has to be provided will be given by the counsel of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
The investigating officer was instructed by the court to monitor the situation and submit a compliance report in advance. The officer was asked to file the compliance report in case the desktops are not provided.
Early this year, the man went to the high court to ask for the quashing of the FIR that had been filed against him in South Delhi’s Defence Colony.
As per the FIR, the woman who filed a complaint against the man worked as a domestic help in his house.
A party was held in the house on 30 April. As per the report, the woman stayed in the servant room as it was late for her to go home. The man allegedly came into her room and hugged her. He also offered her beer.
Following the incident, the woman lodged a complaint against him.
The high court, however, was later notified that the two parties had reached a settlement in June and asserted that there had been some confusion previously because of a “severe linguistic barrier.”
