Heavy rains and strong winds hit Delhi and the National Capital Region on Friday morning, providing relief from humid conditions but causing commuter woes due to waterlogging and traffic disruptions.

The rainfall lowered the minimum temperature to 23.7 degrees Celsius, slightly below the seasonal average, with 100 per cent humidity at 8.30 AM.

The Meteorological department predicts moderate rains and a mostly cloudy sky throughout the day, with a maximum temperature around 32 degrees Celsius.

Waterlogging affected various parts of Delhi, causing early morning traffic congestion, notably near Akshardham Temple Metro Station and on roads like Vikas Marg.

Areas like Sangam Vihar experienced waterlogging, inconveniencing locals.

Delhi traffic police issued alerts for Rohtak Road, both carriageways from Rajdhani Park towards Tikri Border, advising commuters to plan their journeys considering waterlogged traffic.

The weather forecast anticipates generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain in Delhi for the next five days.

On Thursday, the maximum temperature soared to 37.6 degrees Celsius, four notches above the seasonal average, while the minimum temperature was 27.8 degrees Celsius.(With inputs from PTI)
