Parts of Delhi experienced light to moderate rainfall early on Thursday, resulting in waterlogging in various areas.

The minimum temperature in the national capital settled slightly below average at 26.5 degrees Celsius.

As per the India Meteorological Department, Delhi recorded 5 mm of rainfall in the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 am.

The downpour caused waterlogging in several locations, including Lajpat Nagar, Neb Sarai, Mehrauli, Burari, and Dwarka, leading to traffic congestion. The Meteorological office has predicted additional showers over the upcoming days in Delhi and its adjacent regions. The maximum temperature for Thursday is expected to hover around 35 degrees Celsius.

According to IMD, the monsoon rains had a positive impact on air quality, with 31 out of 36 monitoring stations of the Central Pollution Control Board registering an Air Quality Index (AQI) in the ‘satisfactory’ category at 12 pm.

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 ‘poor’, 301 and 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 and 500 ‘severe’, said IMD officials. (With inputs from PTI)
