Monsoon tripping!

The Delhi monsoon is an emotion for many of the residents, the sultry weather notwithstanding. While the sun is less blinding than summer, the intense sweating sucks the life out. However, the season has its own joysand here we list down how to make the most of it.

1. Visit the book cafes: When it pours cats and dogs, getting lost in your favourite book with a preferable beverage is a feeling in itself. Stunning places like Jugmug Thela, Cafe Turtle, The Reader’s cafe are some of the cafes that booklovers can head to in order to experience that.

2. Indulge in Chai and street food:  Monsoon is incomplete in Delhi without some lip-smacking samosas, pakoras, tikkis, momos and piping hot cups of chai. Unlike that in summer, indulgence in fried snacks does not hurt the stomach during the rains. Stalls of such fried snacks and chai are easily found in every corner of the city and Delhiites love to indulge in these monsoon treats.

3. Rooftop cafes: Several cafés offer customers a delightful dining experience with a stunning view. The rains only enhance the visual impact. While some are overlooking beautiful lakes, others offer exquisite views of Delhi’s exemplary monuments. Here are some of the cafes where people can enjoy the view from indoors while it’s raining heavily outside: Mia Bella (opposite Hauz Khas Fort), Coast Café and Hauz Khas Social (in Hauz Khas Village), Triveni Terrace Café at Mandi House, among others.

4. Nature gazing: During the monsoons, the city’s forests come alive with chirping birds, lush greenery and if one is lucky enough, the pleasant sight of dancing peacocks is nothing short of enticing. Sanjay Van, Kamala Nehru Ridge or the Central Ridge near Chanakyapuri and Sundar Nursery are some of the places which offer such experiences.
