Cosy corners, chocolates and a cup of steaming hot coffee – winter is here, and there is no better way to beat the chills. Offering all of this and much more, one of Delhi’s popular café Honey & Dough has now opened doors in Janakpuri.
Quite well spaced out, every part of this café is just instagrammable. The outdoor seating is just perfect to bask in the winter sun. The interiors have also been done up with a lot of care, with each seat giving a different vibe.
Done up in a calming pastel green shade, one can enjoy a quiet cup of coffee by themselves in a corner. The wide counter in the middle has on display a wide variety of their cakes, biscuits, chocolates that you can take home. While waiting for our orders we walked around to take a look at their merchandise, that could be a perfect gift for Christmas and weddings.
Just a month old, the café is already a crowd puller. People walked in to pick up their cakes and savouries as well.
We took a seat by the entrance which gavea good view of the outside and ordered a Hazelnut Hot coffee, Caramel Cold coffee and a butter croissant to go along with it. The hazelnut and caramel is just the right amount of perfect. We simply couldn’t get enough of the croissant which was soft on the inside, slightly crunchy on the outside. A must have with your coffee.
Offering a large variety of small bites we went ahead and tried their Chilli Chicken Puff and Bacon and Cheese bruschetta. While the filling of the puff was quite flavourful the coating however was a little oily.
The bruschetta however won us over. The bread was fresh and had a generous dose of cheese and bacon on it.
Moving on to the mains, we tried their Lamb Sloppy Joe burger. This one is sloppy just as promised but that’s what makes it fun. Quite fresh, the patty of this burger has small pieces of lamb that has been tossed in a good sauce of onions and tomatoes, with other seasonings. Served with crunchy fries on the side, be ready to get messy with this one.
Moving on to try one of their pastas, we had one of the recommended Mama Rosa Pasta. This mixed sauce spaghetti pasta quite honestly failed to impress us. We had asked to add chicken to the pasta, but the flavours somehow didn’t mix well and ended up quite bland. The garlic bread on the side too was over toasted.
Quite full from all this we ended our meal with the desserts. With a wide variety of cakes, waffles, chocolates and tarts, this one will leave you spoilt for choices. We had a tough time making our selection and wished we could try some more, but were unfortunately too stuffed.
Finally deciding with a Lemon Tart and a Chocolate Truffle Cake, it did not disappoint us. The chocolate cake is neatly layered, soft and surprisingly not too sweet, making it perfect.
The Lemon Tart looked too good to eat. For those who love to end things on a zesty note, this one is just right. Not too hard on the outside, the insides are soft and give a completely different taste from the chocolate truffle.
