An art work by Sharm Chowdhury
The exhibition is an attempt to explore and interrogate the cathartic and metamorphic role women play in all vital areas of art, culture, and society. Image and text have gone hand in hand for many visual artists. Often it is theory that drives the art, and often intuitive art gives way to the underpinnings of a theoretical discourse. The artists handpicked for the exhibition combine the interplay of self-taught and structured art education, experimentation with materials, and a play of ideas.
The diversity of their visual language makes their societal concerns related to identity, sexual politics, gender, empowerment, skill sets, and knowledge systems visible.
