Pandit Chatur Lal Memorial Society will present the 28th edition of Amar Jyoti, its annual musical homage to India’s armed forces, on August 26 at Kamani Auditorium, New Delhi. The concert begins at 7 PM. Entry is free but requires an E-pass.

This year’s programme will be headlined by Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, the legendary flute maestro, accompanied by Ustad Rashid Mustafa Thirakwa on tabla. The evening will also feature Brahmaand – The Universe, a contemporary ensemble curated by Pranshu Chatur Lal (percussions), with Rohan Prasanna (sarod), Shounok Banerjee (ghatam) and Zaki Ahmad (vocals). Together, they bring a blend of tradition and youthful energy to the stage.

For the organisers, Amar Jyoti has always been more than a concert. “This is our humble offering to the soldiers who guard our freedom with their lives. For us, music is not just art—it is gratitude in its purest form,” said Shruti Chatur Lal, Artistic Director of the Society.

“For almost three decades, Amar Jyoti has carried forward our family’s commitment to using music as a medium of service. Each edition is a sacred homage to our armed forces, inspiring pride and reverence among audiences,” added Pandit Charajit Chatur Lal, Secretary of the Society.

Representing the younger voice, Pranshu Chatur Lal reflected: “We feel a deep responsibility to carry this legacy forward. Amar Jyoti is not only about remembering our soldiers but also about showing how music evolves with time, keeping its soul intact while resonating with today’s audiences.”

Founded in memory of tabla wizard Pandit Chatur Lal, the Society has long worked to preserve Indian classical traditions while providing a platform to young talent. With Amar Jyoti, it continues to weave patriotism and artistry into one stirring cultural experience.
