Taste of Dilli 6

What: For all the foodies in the city, here’s a festival that will take you to the streets of Old Delhi with its food, shopping, and entertainment.

Dilli 6 Food Festival, curated by Purani Dilli Walo ki Baatein in association with Dilli Durbar, is dedicated to the authentic food of Old Delhi and its tradition.  The food will be accompanied by great music. It brings together an ambitious anthology of classical music with contemporary luminaries, which have been the essential ingredients of the Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb.

When: March 16 – 17 (11 am – 9 pm)

Where: Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts

Earthen hues

What: A mix of earthen shades and contrasting colours, painted on the canvasses and sheets, artist Amita Prithviwasi works show technique-centred  art pieces in acrylic colours. Having vast knowledge in the field of digital painting, manual painting and photography, Amita has made her mark by showcasing her works at various exhibitions. Now she is all set to present her new collection of art pieces titled ‘Anterman’ — a vibrant depiction of landscapes and nature. The collection portrays Amita’s understanding of her surroundings and the innate nature of everything that envelopes us. Through her paintings, the artist tries to bring forth her interpretation of the connection between the inner conscious mind and the universe.

Musical milieu

What: Block your dates to experience live music at the seventh edition of the Songbird Sessions. The endeavour is simple — to put the focus firmly back on the artist and the performance. Collaborating with artists from the independent music scene, these sessions aim to break down the barriers between stage and seats, artist and audience. This edition will feature performances by Lifafa and Dee En. Kicking things off will be Dee En, who will preview songs from their upcoming record, Poppin’ EP. Following Dee En, Lifafa will play tracks from his latest album, Jaago and more.

When: March 15 (8:30 pm – 11:30 pm)

Where: Odd Bird Theatre and Foundation, Chattarpur

Celebrating dance 

What: Late Rukmini Devi Arundale was a legendary figure who led the renaissance of Bharatanatyam and founded a premier academy for fine arts, ‘Kalakshetra Foundation’.

The Alumni Association of Kalakshetra is conducting the first ever regional chapter of the alumni meet of Kalakshetra, spanning the era between 1954 to 2018. Bringing together the stalwarts of the institution, such as Ms Yamini Krishnamurthy, Shri CK Balagopal and Shri CV Chandrasekhar, the event will feature an art exhibition. There will be a dance therapy, a full-fledged performance of Athai’s (Rukmini Devi’s) choreography and choreographic renditions of the senior dancers including breakaway themes.

When: March 1- 2 (6 pm)
