What: Keeping its long-established tradition of showcasing India’s leading poets in varied genres, Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts is all set to host its 49th edition of Kavi Sammelan. Well-known poet Dr Ashok Chakradhar will be the convener of the event. Some of the leading Hindi poets who will be participating are Deepak Gupta — poet of laughter and satire, ghazalkar and anchor, Ayush Charag, Laxmi Shankar Bajpai, Mahesh Garg ‘Bedharak’, Kunwar Ranjeet Singh Chauhan, renowned Urdu poet and writer Guljar Dehlvi, Tej Narayan Sharma, Manorath, to name a few. Delighting Delhi poetry lovers with these myriad poems, the season will be a great opportunity to enjoy with family and friends.

Group show

What: Documenting the art practices of some eminent Indian artists by showcasing their works which are especially created by the artists for the show, Art Alive Gallery presents ‘Art Now 19’. Back with its fourth edition, it is a group exhibition of 31 artists portraying contemporary Indian art trends.  It focuses on the current art practices and how they have evolved over the last few years. The artists have been experimenting with newer mediums and are responding to the environment around them. The show will highlight the signature style of each artist, depicting the current cultural and global influences on Indian art, thus focusing on the current art movement.

Crafty affair

What: Dastkar was started in 1981 and since then every year they have exhibitions showcasing the different art forms of India. This year Dastkar prepares for its fourth and biggest event of this season in Delhi – Nature 2019. It has on display a collection of crafts inspired by Mother Nature, and this year the binding theme for all craftspeople is fish, water, and its subsequent forms. Visitors can expect various development of handicrafts based around the mentioned theme, including – Gond painting, Pattachitra and Kalighat paintings, textile crafts like applique work, ajrakh, handwoven garments, and tribal weaves, and many other such adaptations through craft as a medium of expression.
