An exhibition titled India’s Pride – The Asiatic Lions by wildlife photographer Pradip Deswal is on view at the Visual Arts Gallery, India Habitat Centre, from July 24 to 26. The exhibition marks the first time the gallery has hosted a photography exhibition dedicated exclusively to the Asiatic lion.

Featuring over 72 photographs, the exhibition presents a visual journey through Gir National Park in Gujarat, the world’s only natural habitat of the Asiatic lion. The photographs capture the species’ strength, behaviour and habitat while drawing attention to its ecological significance and the need for continued conservation

The exhibition aims to raise awareness about wildlife conservation, encourage appreciation of India’s biodiversity and promote responsible tourism to Gir National Park. Through his images, Deswal seeks to highlight both the beauty and vulnerability of one of India’s most iconic and endangered species.

An environmentalist and wildlife photographer, Deswal has travelled extensively across India’s forests, mountains and wilderness to document wildlife. His work focuses on combining visual storytelling with conservation, using composition, light and timing to portray the country’s natural heritage.

“Every photograph is an invitation to witness the magnificence of India’s wildlife. Through this exhibition, I hope visitors leave with a deeper appreciation for the Asiatic lion and a stronger commitment to preserving our natural heritage,” Deswal said.

When: July 24–26, 2026, 10 am–8 pm
