An exhibition by photographer Akshat Kishore titled ‘Insights’ is going to be held from July 14 to July 16 at the Open Palm Court Gallery, India Habitat Centre. It will display photographic prints capturing the diversity of South Asia: the wildlife, people, landscapes, and culture.

Kishore is the founder of the NGO called Camaraderie, which uses photographic art to raise funds for social causes that are working towards conservation of wildlife and environment in the country.

Kishore’s journey as a photographer started when he saw a 10-year-old beggar in Los Angeles. He took a photograph of the beggar from his mother’s phone and never looked back, often dwelling into vulnerabilities of both humans and nature.

Over the years, wildlife photography became his primary interest, which led him to visit numerous sanctuaries in India and Nepal. Encouraged by his parents, Akshat participated in various competitions including Travel Photographer of the Year, Wildlife Photographer of the Year, and Nature TTL Photographer of the Year, among others.

He also ventured into filmmaking and worked as the Director of Photography for four movies produced by Heartbeat Films, which earned accolades at international film festivals like Tagore Film Festival and Hong Kong Film Festival. He later captured landscapes of Ladakh at 17,500 feet for his film The Himalayas.

“Photography isn’t just my passion; it is a medium through which I express my unique perspective on the world. As I embark on this journey, I am not quite certain where it will lead me, but capturing moments continues to bring me joy and immense satisfaction,” he says.
