The competition is open to the members of the century old club, which was established in 1922.
The run will begin just after 6 am and comprises a 5 km open run. The distance is reduced for the elderly and kids to 3 km. For the former, it turns into a walk.
There will also be other events like Dance and Bhangra, Tug Of War, Kids Run, Couple Run, Plank Challenge, Push Up Challenge besides distribution of prizes and mementos.
Bhangra celebrity Ashley Kaur will perform at the event and will help the competitors warm up at 6 am prior to the run.
“We started this run last year to celebrate 100 years of our club. This event is meant to celebrate the Centenary Year. This is the second year, so that is why we have named it as ‘Roshanara Run One-O-One’. We celebrate our club’s anniversary, Foundation Day, on August 15 coinciding with Independence Day. We have been celebrating this date as the Foundation Day since 1923 as the club was formed on 15th August, 1922 according to our papers,” said Amit Garg, treasurer of Roshanara Club, to Patriot.
“People between three and 85 years of age are invited to participate and we reward them according to the age groups. There are three categories. First category is for those between the age of 3 and 18. It is a 3 km run. The second category is for those between 18 and 50. They will compete in the 5 km run. For the 50-plus, we have a 3 km walk.”
