Artist and art historian Shibani Sehgal will present her solo exhibition Rtusamhāra – romancing the chaos at Triveni Kala Sangam from October 9 to 16, between 11 AM and 8 PM. On display at the Triveni Art Gallery will be 15 mixed-media works on paper, created through Sehgal’s distinctive practice of collage.
The exhibition draws inspiration from John Milton’s Paradise Lost, particularly its meditation on how order emerges from chaos. Sehgal transforms scraps of paper — often discarded or overlooked fragments — into luminous compositions where gold, silver, and copper shimmer across textured surfaces. Birds, leaves, and blossoms appear not as direct depictions but as fleeting impressions, carrying memory and presence.
Describing collage as “painting without a brush”, Sehgal layers and composes intuitively, allowing chance to guide her process.

“My art is an intuitive dialogue with nature, expressing not simply what I see but what I feel—where the rhythms and textures of the world are transformed into visual form,” she says.
