
Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh, one of India’s oldest cultural institutions with over seven decades of service to the arts, is set to host the second edition of Samvadini Samaroh, a festival dedicated exclusively to the harmonium. The event, being organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, will take place on October 4 and 5 at Triveni Kala Sangam, Mandi House.
The two-day celebration will bring together some of the country’s finest harmonium maestros, accompanied by leading tabla artists.
On the opening day, October 4, the line-up includes solo performances by Dr. Vinay Mishra (Delhi) with Pt. Ashish Sengupta on tabla, Pt. Hiramoy Mitra (Kolkata) with Pt. Debashish Adhikari, and Pt. Vishwanath Kanhere (Mumbai) with Shri Siddharth Chatterjee.
The second day, October 5, will feature Zakir Dhaulpuri (Delhi) accompanied by Pt. Jaydev, Pt. Rajendra Vaishampayan (Mumbai) with Pt. Anup Banerjee, and Pt. Subhash Daskkar (Nashik) with Pt. Lalit Kumar.

Organisers said the festival aims to provide a rare platform for the harmonium, often regarded as one of the world’s most popular and versatile instruments. “The Samaroh not only honours the tradition of harmonium but also highlights its adaptability in Indian classical music,” said a representative of the Kendra.
