‘The Call of the Mirror’: A group art exhibition

Viraya Eko, a pioneering art initiative founded by artist and curator Rohit J Kapoor, will present its latest group art show, “The Call of the Mirror,” at Travancore Palace, 10A Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi. The art exhibition will be previewed on August 10, 2024, and open to the public on August 11, 2024. The show will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both days.

“The Call of the Mirror” will feature a diverse lineup of artists, each offering unique perspectives through their work.

Asha Thadani will showcase her photography that addresses important social issues such as caste, power hierarchies, child labour, and abuse.

Suvajit Mondal, a New Delhi-based ceramic artist, explores the relationship between nature and human intervention.

Maulik Oza, a self-taught ceramist, integrates ceramics into architectural and interior designs.  Nitush and Aroosh, self-taught designers and artists, will present sculptural furniture and objects crafted from stainless steel.

Oliver Sinclair, a portrait and street photographer, started his career with Richard Avedon and Nick Knight.

Nirvair Rai Singh, a Mumbai-based photographer and filmmaker, uses his lens to explore socio-political issues in South Asia.

Sergey Vinogradov, a member of the Union of Photo Artists in Russia, delves into surrealist portrait photography.

Nandini Jhabua, a promoter of Gond Art from the Royal family of Jhabua, has supported tribal art and culture globally for over a decade.

Kopal Seth, based in Khurai, M.P., addresses themes of overpopulation and environmental chaos in her work.

Rohit J Kapoor blends emotional and analytical dialogues in his multidisciplinary art, which alternates between monastic austerity and baroque high camp.

Khalid Amin combines traditional block printing with modern techniques like overprinting and painting on fabric. His work, including the piece ‘Haji Ali,’ is part of the Victoria and Albert Museum’s permanent collection.

Rutvik creates art that reflects his connection to nature and the Gir forests, using rural landscapes and animals to critique modern life.

Shambu Dayal, a Gond artist from Madhya Pradesh, has developed a distinctive style over 35 years, blending traditional elements with folklore and mysticism.

Khulem Tennyson (Lulu Kayheich), a contemporary performance artist, has created nonverbal ballad dance films and experimental performances.

Narendra Jatav, from Madhya Pradesh, creates art using charcoal, blending sacred geometry with abstraction.
