The jazz scene in India is also one that has undergone a bit of a renaissance over many years, peppered with experiments in fusing Indian music with jazz – giving rise to Indo-Jazz music – another distinct genre in itself.
Jazz, a compelling genre with a rich history, is a form of music that has caught the imaginative fancy of many a musician and connoisseurs across the world. Its improvisational and experimental nature, coupled with intricate and complex melodic and rhythmic patterns, makes it a highly evolved form of music – built on the immense contribution of several notable legends.
Banyan Tree’s World Jazz Festival was launched in 2020, with the aim of contributing to and enriching the Jazz scene in India. Presenting exemplary jazz music and world music in tandem, this festival is in collaboration with the Amersfoort Jazz Festival from The Netherlands.
