HolyBelly Food Boutique, New Delhi
Imagine this. You enter a restaurant with your bestie and find that you two are the only guests in the cosy intimate space which has just one table, two chairs, a few books and a blackboard which has your names written on it. The focus out here is ‘A Memorable Meal Curated Just For You’ as an exclusive chef’s table. This space is called ‘HolyBelly’, tucked in the quiet Shahpur Jat.
The afternoon we visited the place, Chef and co-owner, Rishi Bharadwaj, was there to welcome me and take me through a culinary journey that he had planned. Alumnus of Le Cordon Bleu, London, Chef Rishi leverages his passion for food through years of training under Michelin Star chefs. As we settled down feeling no less than royalty, being the only guest for lunch, Rishi appeared with ‘Classic Scotch Eggs with Mushroom Duxelle’ as our first starter. He served it himself, smiled and said, “Gastro-nomically anchored in the French and British techniques, ours is not really a restaurant but a food boutique fabricated out of love and passion for all things gourmet. We curate menus according to the preferences of our guests who arrive on prior reservation.”
I love Scotch eggs, and he prepared it for me, once again proving his passion for his job. He left me alone to devour it and came back in a few minutes with ‘Mille Feuille of Goat Cheese with Roasted Beetroot”. A hint of Apple Jelly as a topping, made it interesting. ‘Pulled Jackfruit and BBQ Slider with Beetroot and Carrot Coleslaw’, is his favourite and it was outstanding. Amongst the non veg dishes, the signature ones are ‘Chicken Liver Parfait with Jamun Jam’; ‘Grilled Tiger Prawns’, ‘Almond and Red Pepper Sauce with Pickled Red Chili’; and ‘Aged Lamb Slider with Mango and Habenero Sauce’.
In the mains, Rishi treated me to a lovely preparation of ‘Baby Spinach and Feta Tortillini with Roasted Garlic Veloute’. What I loved was the ‘HolyBelly Earth Bowl’ – which had red steam rice, coconut, galangal and lemon grass curry, green beans and sunflower seeds. The Earth Bowl was a complete meal, yet I was greedy and also tasted the ‘Cumin Spiced Shakshouka with Grilled Aubergine, Zucchini and toasted Multigrain bread’. Non-vegetarian main course of ‘Pan Seared Red Snapper with Pea and Mint Puree, Chorizo, Baby onion, fresh peas and pommes frittes’, is hot in demand while ‘Catalan Inspired Confit rabbit, Trio of carrots and dark chocolate jus’, is the star of his menu.
Complete your meal with Valrhona Ganache with Toasted Nuts, Sea Salt and extra virgin olive oil or Baileys Cream Brule.
Classic lemon tart and Vegan Ginger Churros with coconut caramel, are absolutely delightful. Rishi pointed out, the credit of everything sweet and baked goes to his co-partner and chef Janeya Khanna who has an expertise in patisserie and desserts.
From supplying her home-made cakes for Christmas carnivals, Janeya moved on to Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, where she trained as a gourmet pastry chef. Her Valrhona chocolate and pecan-nut brownies, with a third secret ingredient, and Hazelnut Bailey’s Crème Brulee have become widely acclaimed HolyBelly signature desserts.
The newest addition to the team, Chef Aman, has a flair for French and Modern European cuisines. This chef trio makes sure that you savour every flavour and ingredient, filling you with pure happiness.
Get ready to be treated with some feel-good vibes the moment you set foot in the HolyBelly Food Boutique.Follow their signature concept – ‘Food by Mood’, share your occasion and intent, and leave the rest to the masters.
