In Delhi, you can savour a lavish French dinner at select restaurants as part of the Good France/Goût de France  weekend, March 21-24. The fifth edition of this global event will see over 5,000 chefs offering French cuisine, which finds a place in Unesco’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2015.

With most restaurants across the world serving the multi-course delicious French dinner, the focus this year is on ‘No More Plastic’.

In India, the embassy of France in India focuses on training culinary professionals. The embassy hosts high-school going French Chef Cyrène Randrianasolo, who won the ‘Young Chef Olympiads’ held in Kolkata in February 2019. Chef Cyrène will meet young Indian chefs to exchange views and culinary skills over masterclasses at the Vatel Hospitality Management School in Delhi, and the International Institute of Hotel Management in Kolkata.

The young chef will have the opportunity of preparing dishes with products sourced from the region. She will thus visit an organic farm in Delhi-NCR as well as explore the treasures of Khari Baoli, the famed spice market in Old Delhi.

Looking forward to the event, Ambassador of France to India Alexandre Ziegler said, “I am thrilled that we are focusing on professional training and sustainable development this year. Cyrène, through her trajectory and success in Kolkata, is proof of French excellence. She shows that gastronomy enables encounters between France and India.”

In India, over 70 restaurants are part of Good France this year. Participation from India has been increasing steadily – up by 50% from last year in Delhi alone – which reflects the Indian public’s growing interest in exploring new flavours, especially French gastronomy.

Participating restaurants in the Delhi-NCR region are:
