Delhi Capitals clinched victory over Mumbai Indians by a margin of 10 runs in yet another exhilarating Indian Premier League encounter held here on Saturday.

Choosing to bat first, Delhi Capitals set a formidable total of 257/4 on the board. Mumbai Indians, in response, managed 247/9 within the stipulated 20 overs.

The young sensation in DC’s ranks, Jake Fraser-McGurk, wasted no time in launching a ferocious assault on the bowlers, steering DC to a commanding 92 without any loss during the powerplay.

Fraser-McGurk’s explosive knock of 84 off just 25 deliveries came to an end when he was caught in the deep while attempting to clear the boundary ropes off Piyush Chawla’s bowling.

Shai Hope picked up the baton from Fraser-McGurk’s onslaught, smashing 41 off a mere 17 balls, including five sixes, while Tristan Stubbs contributed an unbeaten 48 from 25 deliveries.

Despite a shaky start, Mumbai Indians fought back valiantly, with Tilak Varma leading the charge with a quickfire 63 off 32 balls, accompanied by Hardik Pandya’s 46 off 24 balls and Tim David’s 37 off just 17 deliveries, propelling the visitors close to victory after being 65/3 in the initial six overs.

Summary:

Delhi Capitals: 257/4 in 20 overs (Jake Fraser-McGurk 84, Shai Hope 41, Tristan Stubbs 48 not out).

Mumbai Indians: 247/9 in 20 overs (Hardik Pandya 46, Tilak Varma 63, Tim David 37; Rasikh Dar Salam 3/34, Mukesh Kumar 3/59).
