Mahindra unveils BE 6, XEV 9e: Mahindra is set to revolutionise the electric vehicle market with the launch of the BE 6 and XEV 9e, the first models from its Electric Origin SUV line-up. These vehicles will challenge rivals like the Tata Curvv EV, BYD Atto 3, and the forthcoming Tata Harrier EV. Bookings open today, 14th February 2025, with phased deliveries based on variant selection.

The initial phase will prioritise deliveries of the top-tier variants, starting in mid-March 2025. In preparation, Mahindra dispatched 1,837 units to dealerships in January, while total production stood at 2,281 units for the month. These figures underscore Mahindra’s aggressive push into the EV segment, which saw 98,841 units sold in 2024.

With deliveries of base and mid-variants set to follow, Mahindra’s EV sales are expected to witness substantial growth. The company currently ranks third in the electric vehicle sector, having sold 7,104 units of its XUV400 in 2024. The introduction of the BE 6 and XEV 9e is poised to significantly enhance Mahindra’s market share.

Both the BE 6 and XEV 9e are built on the versatile INGLO platform and share battery configurations and electric motors. The BE 6 will be available in five variants: Pack One, Pack One Above, Pack Two, Pack Three Select, and Pack Three. The XEV 9e will offer four variants: Pack One, Pack Two, Pack Three Select, and Pack Three.

Deliveries for the top-spec variants will begin in mid-March 2025, followed by Pack Three Select variants in June, Pack Two in July, and Pack One in August. This phased approach ensures a streamlined delivery process for customers across the country.

The vehicles will be offered with two battery options: a 59 kWh variant with a rear-mounted motor delivering 231 hp and 380 Nm, and a more powerful 79 kWh variant producing 286 hp and 380 Nm. Both models promise strong performance and reliability across diverse driving conditions.

Mahindra boasts impressive ARAI-certified ranges for its new EVs. The BE 6 offers a range of 556 km with the 59 kWh battery and 682 km with the 79 kWh version. The XEV 9e, on the other hand, delivers 542 km and 656 km for the respective battery capacities. In real-world conditions, both vehicles are expected to achieve a city range of over 500 km, even with the air conditioning running.

Mahindra’s strategic entry into the EV market with the BE 6 and XEV 9e marks a significant step toward a sustainable, electric-driven future, combining innovation, performance, and accessibility in a competitive landscape.
