Royal Enfield has reintroduced the iconic Flying Flea, a motorcycle with deep wartime roots, in an all-new electric avatar. Originally designed by the British War Office as a lightweight, air-droppable vehicle for soldiers, the legendary nameplate now returns as Royal Enfield’s potential first EV. The model, first showcased at CES, has now made its way to India, featuring advanced technology developed in collaboration with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon.

The Flying Flea’s Modern Transformation

The revamped Flying Flea is among the first motorcycles to integrate Snapdragon’s Car-to-Cloud platform. According to Mario Alvisi, Chief Growth Officer at Royal Enfield, while most of the technological innovations come from in-house development, the integration of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon technologies marks a crucial step forward for the brand. This collaboration aims to offer a more dynamic and connected riding experience.

Breakthrough Technology: Snapdragon QWM2290 SoC

The Flying Flea features the Snapdragon QWM2290 SoC, a chipset specifically designed to enhance electric two-wheelers. This advanced chip powers the vehicle control unit, running a proprietary operating system that allows riders to interact with their bike through a fully digital, round TFT display.

Enhanced Connectivity with Car-to-Cloud Technology

Snapdragon’s Car-to-Cloud platform enables seamless communication between the rider and the motorcycle via secure multi-modal interaction. This connectivity allows remote access and control through 4G, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi, ensuring riders stay connected to their bike whether on or off the road.

Advanced Riding Modes and Smart Features

The new Flying Flea comes with five pre-set riding modes, allowing riders to switch settings based on their needs. Additionally, the interactive TFT screen supports Google Maps and various other functionalities, enhancing the overall riding experience with real-time connectivity and smart navigation.

With this bold step into the EV space, Royal Enfield blends history with innovation, ensuring that the Flying Flea continues to be an icon for the modern era.
