Royal Enfield has officially introduced the much-anticipated Classic 650 in India, with a starting price of Rs 3.37 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai). Bookings for the motorcycle are now open, and deliveries are set to begin soon.
Variants and Pricing
The Classic 650 is available in three trims: Hotrod, Classic, and Chrome, each offered in distinct colour options:
Hotrod Variant – Rs 3.37 lakh: Bruntingthorpe Blue, Vallam Red
Classic Variant – Rs 3.41 lakh: Exclusive Teal colour
Chrome Variant – Rs 3.50 lakh: Black Chrome finish
Notably, the Classic 650 is priced lower than the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650, making it a more accessible twin-cylinder option from the brand.
Design and Styling
Heavily inspired by the Classic 350—one of Royal Enfield’s best-selling models—the Classic 650 retains the brand’s signature design elements, including:
Teardrop-shaped fuel tank
Tiger-eye style headlamp
Curved fenders
Wire-spoke wheels with tube-type tyres
Twin exhaust pipes designed like classic pea shooters
These features contribute to the motorcycle’s vintage appeal while ensuring a distinct road presence.
Engine and Performance
Powering the Classic 650 is Royal Enfield’s 648cc, parallel-twin, air/oil-cooled engine, which also drives the Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, Super Meteor 650, and Shotgun 650. The engine delivers:
46.9 bhp at 7,250 rpm
52.3 Nm of peak torque at 5,650 rpm
6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch
Chassis and Hardware
Sharing its mainframe, subframe, and swingarm with the Shotgun 650, the Classic 650 features a well-balanced suspension setup. It rides on 19-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheels and is equipped with 320mm front and 300mm rear disc brakes, complemented by dual-channel ABS. With a 14.8-litre fuel tank and a kerb weight of 243kg, the motorcycle blends practicality with performance.
Features and Technology
Despite its retro styling, the Classic 650 comes equipped with modern features, including:
LED headlamp and tail lamp
Analogue-digital instrument cluster (similar to the Classic 350)
USB Type-C charging port
